JFTrans - Click Here

JFTrans is a simple PC based front end that reads JFile PDB files, automatically translates them into an Access format database, and then loads them into a fully editable grid for modification or viewing.   Any popup list data in the original file is loaded into a dropdown list in JFTrans so that you can easily select the item you want in the current cell.  These popup lists can be easily modified within JFTrans.  JFTrans also provides tools to easily sort, search or filter the data anyway you want.

JFTrans can seamlessly convert JFile data types to the more efficient Access types, in order to reduce the size of the resulting MDB files, or allow you to do calculations on the Access data that would be impossible within JFile.  JFTrans also allows you to modify the field names that are used in the Access database, and translates the two automatically.  You can also create a new Access file within JFTrans and define the associated JFile file structure at the same time.

Data from your Pilot can be added to a current Access file, or can replace the data entirely.  Any grid layouts you design for a specific view, are retained by JFTrans for the next time you load or look at the data.  You can also specify the display formats of various data types that are retained on a file by file basis.

You can easily rebuild and install the JFile PDB file using either the original field names or those used in the Access file. The new PDB can include all records in the database or only those that have been filtered in JFTrans. You can also export the data to another PDB file that can be installed at a later time, or sent to someone else.

JFTrans does not support the older JFile 3 of JFile 4 formats.

PC Users JFile/JFTrans Bundle: Save 15% by purchasing the JFile/JFTrans application suite.  JFTrans is a comprehensive and easy to use Windows (all versions) package which reads JFile databases, translates them into Access format, and then loads the new MDB file into a fully editable grid for modification, viewing, or printing. JFTConv - Click Here

JFTconv is a simple utility to convert databases between Access and JFile 5.5 formats. It supports reading and writing database formats from any version of Access that your installed version (Access 97 or 2000 / XP or greater) will support, and JFile 5.5 on the Palm. The older 3.x and 4.x versions of JFile are not supported.

JFTconv can be run from a standard Windows interface or from a command line that permits its use in batch processing or other types of automation.  It can even be run from within a custom Access application.  It also supports the use of Templates, that save your field and other settings for easy reuse, from both the interface and the command line.  When converting from Access to JFile, you can select the fields to convert and their order in the resulting JFile PDB file.  JFTconv also supports JFile popup lists, and will save the list data in the Access file along with the associated table data.

JFTconv is available in two versions, one for Access 97 users, and one for users of Access 2000 / XP or greater.   JFTconv is designed to run under all versions of Windows.  For more information on JFTConv, click here.

DBConvert is a database converter. It converts a JFile, List or MobileDB database to a HanDBase, JFile, List, MobileDB or P. Referencer (Casio PocketViewer) database, a SmartList To Go cvs file, MS-Excel speadsheet or an user-definable textfile.

It includes as well a (simple) database viewer, a field selection sceen and the option to append the database records to an existing HanDBase, JFile, List, or MobileDB database. I've included some screenshots of the program to give you an idea what the program does.

The program is distributed as freeware. It has been written in Java 1.4.2, which of course means that the Java runtime 1.4 (or later version) is required to be able to run it.

PocketCites  v1.5.1

If you use EndNote bibliographic software and have a Palm, you've
probably wished there was a way to either bring specific citations
with you to the library on your Palm, or enter citations on your Palm
to later upload to EndNote. With PocketCites, you can do exactly this.

On Windows....
------------------------------

PocketCites for Windows converts exported EndNote records to JFile
databases and back to files which can then be imported into EndNote.
This version was developed in response to great demand for a version
for the Windows platform. EndNote versions 3 and greater are
supported. For more information, see Click Here

JFile Companion

Macintosh Application

JFile Companion (JFC) is intented to be used together with the Palm application JFile. With the help of JFC it's possible to convert JFile databases to tab separated text files, define new JFile databases and import data into JFile databases that can be used on your handheld.

Currently JFC is in public beta, which means that anyone can download and try JFC but you should be aware of that JFC contains bugs and is missing some functionality. Our plan is to first release a version for Mac OS X/Classic and then a Windows version. JFC will be released as a shareware application.
